A PhD position is available at TU Wien, Austria. The duration of the position is 4 years, it is available immediately with a flexible starting date within the next couple of months.


The focus of the research will be on using knowledge graphs and graph technologies to bring meaning to large amounts of heterogeneous data, enable novel perspectives of analysis, and make data and results accessible. Of particular interest are the scalable support of knowledge graph evolution, provenance, data integration, exploration and analytics, quality, and their applications within the context of LLMs and GraphRAG.


Tasks:

  1. Research, project, and publication activities within the fields of databases, data and knowledge engineering

  2. Solving scientific problems with the motivation for independent and goal-oriented research

  3. Participating in teaching activities

  4. Participation in scientific events


Your profile

  1. An excellent master or diploma in Computer Science (or closely related field)

  2. Strong programming skills and experience with developing research prototypes

  3. In-depth knowledge and experiences within at least two the following areas: graph data management, knowledge graphs, data integration (data lakes, fabrics), provenance, LLMs, and dynamic/temporal knowledge graphs.

  4. Ability to develop methods, concepts, as well as their implementation and evaluation

  5. Willingness to contribute in interdisciplinary projects

  6. Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working

  7. Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills, and creative thinking

  8. Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of German (level B2) or willingness to learn it in the first year
